Really Good Hotels in Penrith
Penrith was once the capital of Cumbria. A fourteenth century castle once stood to protect the town from raiding Scots. These days the lovely ruins are open to visitors and are looked after by English Heritage. In addition, those who come to Penrith will find small and utterly charming attractions such as the school where William Wordsworth was first taught poetry. Plenty of high quality shops and restaurants are found in the bustling centre of town, but just a few miles away all is peace and tranquility as you head into the Lake District National Park.
